My pots are mainly thrown, sometimes altered, cut and put together again. I make small series of mugs, jugs, lidded jars, bowls and much more. As decoration, I use stamps, made from carved porcelain. The shapes on the stamps are based on nature, seeds leaf pattern, flowers, which are then pressed into the clay repeatedly.
When the clay is completely dry, the imprint is filled with different coloured glazes and then sometimes glazed over again.
I use simple glazes on the inside of pots and on the outside various coloured slips or no slips at all to fully utilise the effects of wood firing and soda glazing.
I like my pots to be inviting to touch and handle on a daily basis in the kitchen and around the house.

I make domestic pots specialising in teapots and other drinking and pouring vessels, with a focus on forms that feature open handles as an alternative to the closed loops conventionally used in ceramics. My aim in developing this work has been to create visually interesting designs that have the potential to stimulate the imagination, whilst compromising as little as possible on function and ergonomic efficiency. My influences and references include the forms and structures of flight – I trained as an aeronautical engineer in the 1970s - and European modernist design.
The bodies of the pots are thrown and turned with handles and spouts being slipcast. Following biscuit firing selected areas are sprayed with glazes and stains to obtain a surface of contrasting colour and texture from the final stoneware salt firing.
