How The Mentorship Scheme Works
APPLICATIONS OPEN EACH JANUARY
Purpose of the Scheme
The mentoring programme connects experienced CPA Selected and Fellow Members with early‑career ceramicists. The aim is to strengthen the CPA community and support Associates in their professional development through direct, meaningful communication with established practitioners.
Mentor Selection
- Each year, 10 Associate Members are chosen for the scheme.
- Applicants receive a list of available mentors and may select up to three choices (1st, 2nd, 3rd).
- Mentors are based across the UK. Applicants may choose mentors for their style, skills, or expertise, not necessarily their location.
Format of Mentoring
Mentoring takes place over a two‑day period, arranged between mentor and mentee. It can be delivered as:
- A studio visit,
- Online sessions,
- Or a combination of both.
What Mentoring Can Include
- Professional guidance
- Technical ceramics advice
- Creative discussion of the Associate’s work
- Problem‑solving and project development
- Support aimed at improving professional outcomes
Application Process
Applications open every January. Applicants receive a notification via the CPA Newsletter, directing them to the online application form.
You will be asked to submit:
- Five images of your work
- A CV
- Your 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice of mentor
